Ask The Tech Guy

Question:
I just had my brakes replaced at a local brake shop on my Honda and they still squeak. The technician told me not to worry because the sound would go away after a while. It has been 3 weeks and the squeaking noise continues. What can be done about this?

Answer:
On Honda and Nissan you have to replace the brake pads and shoes with the original equipment(OEM). Through experience we have found that using any brake shoe or pad other than the OEM will cause the brakes to squeak.
